The Central Valley demonstrates a high need for health care professionals, which is reflected by the number of counties in the area that have a shortage of health care professionals.
Recruiting, educating, training and retaining students to work in health care professions in the Central Valley is a critical strategy to keeping health professionals in the region long-term, because students educated locally are more likely to remain and practice in this high need area.
